Unique Student Identifier
As of 1 January 2015, all existing and new students will require a Unique Student Identifier (USI) before they can be issued with a Qualification or Statement of Attainment.
What is a USI?
A Unique Student Identifier (USI) number is a unique reference number that is allocated to any person undertaking a Nationally Recognised Qualification or Statement of Attainment.
This will be a mandatory Government requirement effective 1 January 2015. The USI will allow an individual to access a complete record of vocational training results from all providers including all completed training units and qualifications.
How do I obtain my USI?
You can obtain a USI number online by visiting the USI website. It is available at no cost and should only take a few minutes of your time.
To complete your application, you will need at least one form of acceptable identification:
- Driver’s Licence
- Medicare Card
- Australian Passport
- Visa (with Non-Australian Passport) for international students
- Australian Birth Certificate (Birth Certificate extract is not sufficient)
- Certificate Of Registration By Descent
- Citizenship Certificate
Please set access controls for your USI to enable Living Planit and the NSW Office of Education access as needed to records.
Once you have received your your USI, please include this number on the Living Planit enrolment form. If you are an existing student, please email your USI to firstname.lastname@example.org including your full name so we can update our records. Please note that Living Planit cannot issue your Qualification or Statement of Attainment until we receive this number. Please ensure you write down your USI somewhere safe for future use.
Already have a USI?
If you have previously applied for and received a USI, you do not need to apply for another one. Please provide your USI number on the Living Planit registration paperwork or email email@example.com and include your full name and date of birth.
